UC Davis

The University of California, Davis, is a public research university located in the city of Davis just west of Sacramento. It encompasses 5,300 acres of land, making it the second largest UC campus in terms of land ownership, after UC Merced. UC Davis has the third largest enrollment in the UC system after UCLA and UC Berkeley.

UC Davis began as a farm school in 1909 to teach agriculture to California residents who were leaving the state to pursue this type of education. The school is home to the “Aggies” (for their famed mascot) and is located adjacent to the City of Davis in an unincorporated part of Yolo and Solano counties. The main campus is just 15 miles from Sacramento and very close to Interstate 80.
